The Whispering Waterfall
Lila loved her wild, curly hair. It bounced like springs when she walked, and sometimes she swore it whispered secrets when the wind blew through it.
One afternoon, while running through the forest behind her house, Lila discovered a hidden waterfall she'd never seen before. The water shimmered with tiny sparkles, like someone had stirred in a cupful of stars.
She stepped closer, and her hair literally stood on end, tugging her toward the glowing pool like it was saying, "Come! Come see!"
A small dragonfly with rainbow wings zipped over and landed on her nose. "You found the Vitamin Falls!" it buzzed. "One sip gives you whatever you need most—courage, kindness, or joy. But only if you're running toward something good, not away from something scary."
Lila thought of her friend Marcus, who was too scared to join the school talent show tomorrow. He loved singing but couldn't find his brave.
"I need courage for Marcus!" Lila said, and scooped up some shimmering water in her hands.
The dragonfly nodded. "Then run with it! Don't stop until you reach him!"
Lila took off running through the forest, her hair streaming behind her like a banner. The water in her hands stayed cool and magical, not spilling a drop. Trees leaned aside to let her pass. Birds sang encouraging notes.
When she burst into Marcus's backyard, he was sitting on his porch, looking miserable.
"Drink this!" Lila said, holding out the glowing water.
Marcus hesitated, then swallowed. His eyes widened. "I feel... like I can do anything."
The next day, Marcus sang beautifully at the talent show. Lila sat in the front row, her hair bouncing with pride.
That night, a dragonfly visited her dreams. "Sometimes magic isn't about what you find," it whispered. "It's about who you share it with."
