The Water Sprite's Magic Garden
Mia loved exploring behind her grandmother's house, especially near the old stone well. One rainy afternoon, she heard tiny splashing sounds coming from inside the deep, dark well.
Curious, she lowered her lantern and gasped. A tiny creature no bigger than her hand was trying to climb the slippery stones. It had skin that shimmered like moonlight on a lake, and translucent wings that sparkled like diamonds.
"Please help!" called the little water sprite. "I fell from my home in the clouds!"
Mia quickly lowered a basket with a rope. The creature climbed inside, and Mia pulled it up. The water sprite dripped shimmering droplets that turned into tiny rainbows when they hit the ground.
"Thank you!" said the sprite, whose name was Dewdrop. "I am weak from falling. I need magical leaves to regain my strength."
Mia remembered something. "My grandmother has a secret garden where the vegetables glow at night! She says they're magic."
Hand in hand, the two new friends crept to the forbidden garden. And there, growing in a patch all its own, was the most magnificent spinach Mia had ever seen. The leaves glowed emerald green and pulsed with light like tiny beating hearts.
Dewdrop's eyes widened. "Moonlight Spinach! This will restore my powers!"
But a garden gnome statue suddenly spoke. "Only those who prove kindness may take the magic leaves."
Mia thought carefully. Then she did something unexpected. She picked only three leaves—not handfuls. "These will help Dewdrop, but leave plenty for others who might need help too."
The gnome smiled. "You have proved yourself wise and kind."
Dewdrop ate the spinach leaves and began to glow brightly. Water swirled around them, lifting the sprite into the air.
"Thank you, Mia!" Dewdrop called, rising toward the clouds. "You are my forever friend! Whenever you need me, just whisper to the rain!"
That night, Mia fell asleep smiling. She had made a magical friend, discovered a secret garden, and learned that true kindness means thinking of others. And sometimes, she whispered to the rain, and always, Dewdrop answered back.
