The Water Bull's Secret Game

Ten-year-old Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon, he'd practice pitching against the old wooden fence behind his house. But nobody wanted to play with him – not the bigger kids, not even his little sister. 'You're too small,' they'd say.

One hot Saturday, Leo wandered to the secret pond behind the hill. The water sparkled like diamonds under the golden sun. Suddenly, something enormous moved in the tall grass. A magnificent brown bull with gentle eyes stepped forward, holding a worn leather baseball mitt between his massive horns.

'Want to play?' asked the bull, whose name was Bruno. Leo's mouth dropped open. 'B-bulls don't play baseball!'

'This one does,' Bruno rumbled softly. 'Every full moon, when the moonlight touches the water, the pond becomes a magical baseball diamond. The water feels like soft grass, and the baseball floats like a feather. But I need a friend to play with.'

That night, Leo sneaked back with his lucky baseball. Under the silver moonlight, the pond transformed! The water became a perfect field, glowing with soft blue light. Bruno used his massive tail as a bat while Leo pitched his best throws. They played until dawn, the baseball soaring through starry skies like a shooting star.

'You're not too small,' Bruno said kindly. 'You're brave enough to be friends with a bull who loves baseball. That makes you special.'

Every month, Leo and Bruno played their secret game. Leo became the best pitcher in his actual league, though nobody knew why he sometimes smelled like pond water and stardust. And Bruno? He finally had the friendship he'd dreamed of for years.

Sometimes the most magical friendships come from the most unexpected places – all you need is courage to believe in something wonderful.
