The Vitamin Who Could Fly

Every morning, ten-year-old Maya watched her mother drop a small orange tablet into her glass of water. It fizzed and bubbled, then disappeared, leaving behind a funny taste.

"It's a vitamin," Mama would say. "It helps you grow strong."

But Maya didn't want to take vitamins. She wanted to fly like the birds outside her window, to dance on moonbeams, to have adventures.

One Tuesday morning, Maya placed the vitamin on her windowsill instead of in her water. She stared at it, wishing something magical would happen.

And then it did.

The tiny orange tablet began to glow. It stretched and shimmered until it wasn't a tablet anymore — it was a tiny, sparkling creature with butterfly wings the color of sunset.

"You freed me!" the creature chirped. "I'm Vita, and I've been waiting for someone to believe in magic."

Maya gasped. "You can talk?"

"I can do more than talk," Vita said, fluttering around Maya's room. "I can show you the world's secret places. The places ordinary eyes never see."

Vita landed on Maya's nose. "Climb on. Hold tight to my wings."

Maya's room melted away. Suddenly, she was flying through the air, shrunk to the size of a marble. She saw dewdrops on spiderwebs that looked like crystal palaces. She discovered a family of mice having a tea party inside an old hollow log. She danced with fireflies who painted pictures in the night sky.

"This is amazing!" Maya laughed, spinning through the air. "I never knew the world was so beautiful."

Vita smiled. "The world has always been beautiful. You just needed the right friend to show you."

They flew to a small stream where fish made music by blowing bubbles. Maya touched the water and created ripples that turned into rainbows.

"Everything is connected," Vita explained. "The water, the earth, the air, and even you. We're all part of the same magic."

As the sun began to set, Vita brought Maya home and returned to her original form — a small orange tablet on the windowsill.

"Will I see you again?" Maya asked.

Vita's voice echoed in Maya's mind. "I'm always here. Magic lives wherever you look for it. And remember — true friendship makes you strong, much more than any vitamin ever could."

The next morning, Maya dropped the vitamin into her water and drank it down, smiling. She knew that somewhere inside her, a tiny friend was flying, and that the world was full of magic, waiting to be discovered.

From that day on, Maya saw wonder everywhere. And every time she drank a glass of water, she whispered, "Thank you, friend."
