The Vitamin Pyramid

Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house, with Barnaby the golden retriever galloping happily beside her. Every morning, they would race each other to the old oak tree, laughing as Barnaby's ears flopped in the wind.

One Tuesday, while running farther than usual, Lily spotted something strange peeking through the tall grass. It was a small, shimmering pyramid about the size of a shoebox, glowing with a soft orange light.

'Barnaby, look!' she whispered, reaching toward it.

As her fingers touched the smooth surface, the pyramid clicked open like a puzzle box. Inside sat a single crystal tablet that sparkled like captured sunshine. Tiny letters appeared: 'VITAMIN OF COURAGE.'

Lily's grandmother had told her about ancient magic—how some pyramids held gifts for brave hearts. But she'd never imagined discovering one herself!

'Courage vitamin?' Barnaby tilted his head, his tail wagging curiously.

'I think we're supposed to use it wisely,' Lily said, carefully closing the pyramid. She tucked it into her pocket, where it felt warm against her side.

On the way home, they heard whimpering from beneath a bush. A tiny puppy was stuck, its leash tangled in thorns. Lily's hands trembled—she was scared of thorns. But then she remembered the glowing pyramid.

She opened it and took the crystal tablet. 'One for bravery,' she whispered, swallowing it. Instant warmth spread through her chest, not from magic, but from remembering how much she wanted to help.

Lily reached through the thorns, ignoring the scratches, and freed the little puppy. Barnaby licked her face as she carried the rescue home.

That night, Lily realized something wonderful: the pyramid hadn't given her magic courage. It had simply helped her remember she'd been brave all along. Sometimes the best vitamins are the ones that help us see what's already inside our hearts.

Barnaby curled up beside her, dreaming of pyramids and puppies and the girl who learned that running toward what scares you can lead to the most wonderful discoveries.
