The Vitamin of Wonder

Emma loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, she'd grab her glove and run to the park, dreaming of hitting the perfect home run. But somehow, the ball always landed in the grass with a disappointing thud.

One rainy afternoon, Emma found something strange in her grandmother's attic — a tiny orange bottle labeled "Vitamin of Wonder." The note inside read: "For those who believe in magic."

Emma's grandmother winked. "This won't make you faster or stronger, sweetie. It'll help you see what's already there."

Curious, Emma took one vitamin and suddenly noticed something she'd never seen before — a shimmering pool hidden behind the old oak tree in her backyard. The water glowed with swirling colors, like a rainbow trapped in liquid.

She stepped closer, and her baseball slipped from her hands, splashing into the magical water. Instead of sinking, the ball began to grow! It transformed into a magnificent boat with sails made of baseball stitching.

"Wow!" Emma breathed.

A tiny dragonfly with a baseball cap buzzed around her. "Hop aboard! The Pool of Dreams knows what your heart truly wants."

Emma climbed into the baseball boat, and they sailed through the sparkling water. She saw reflections of herself hitting home runs, catching impossible fly balls, and celebrating with friends. But she also saw something unexpected — her little brother Tommy sitting alone, watching her practice every day.

"He wants to play with you," the dragonfly said softly. "That's your real dream, isn't it? Not just to be good at baseball, but to share the joy."

Emma understood. The vitamin hadn't given her magic powers — it had opened her eyes to what mattered most.

When the boat returned to shore, Emma found Tommy by the real pool, holding his own tiny glove.

"Tommy!" she called. "Want to play baseball?"

His face lit up like sunshine. Together, they played until sunset. Emma didn't hit every ball perfectly, but she discovered something better: laughter, shared dreams, and the magic of playing together.

That night, Emma hid the Vitamin of Wonder in her drawer. She didn't need it anymore. She had found the real magic — friendship and imagination were all the wonder she needed.
