The Vitamin Bear's Baseball Magic
Emma hated taking her vitamin every morning. Until the day something magical happened.
"Swallow this grape pill," her mom said. Emma made a funny face but gulped it down.
That afternoon, Emma was in the backyard playing baseball by herself. She threw the ball up, swung her bat, and missed again and again. Her stuffed bear, Barnaby, sat watching from the porch swing.
"I'll never hit the ball," Emma sighed, sitting beside Barnaby.
Suddenly, Barnaby's brown button eyes twinkled. The fuzzy bear stretched his paws and stood up!
"Practice makes perfect, Emma," Barnaby said in a warm, honey voice.
Emma gasped. "You can talk?"
"I can when you take your vitamin! It gives you magic - and me too!" Barnaby winked.
The bear picked up the baseball and showed Emma how to hold her bat just right. "Keep your eye on the ball. Believe in yourself."
Emma swung again - and WHACK! The ball sailed over the fence!
The next day, Emma's friends came over. They wanted to play baseball but had a silly idea.
"Let's play zombie baseball!" yelled Lucas, making funny groaning sounds.
All the kids stumbled around like zombies, swinging at the ball with floppy arms. Emma and Barnaby laughed so hard their tummies hurt.
Barnaby whispered to Emma, "The secret to hitting the ball is believing you can. The vitamin gives you energy, but your heart gives you courage."
Emma stepped up to the plate, closed her eyes, and remembered Barnaby's words. She believed. She swung.
CRACK! Home run!
All the zombie players cheered. Emma smiled at her magical bear friend.
That night, Emma took her vitamin without complaint. She knew that sometimes the most boring things can lead to the most wonderful adventures - especially when you believe in magic.
Barnaby winked at her from the shelf, already dreaming of tomorrow's game.
