The Tiny Bull's Secret
Lily loved picking oranges from Grandmother's tree every morning. But this morning, when she reached for the brightest orange, it MOO-ed!
Lily gasped and dropped the fruit. Before the orange hit the ground, a tiny bull no bigger than her thumb popped out, shaking orange pulp from his golden fur.
"I'm Barnaby!" the tiny bull announced, standing on his hind legs. "And I was having a perfectly good nap!"
Lily giggled. "You sleep inside oranges?"
"Only the sweetest ones," Barnaby said proudly. "I'm a Vitamin Bull!"
"A what?" Lily asked.
Barnaby pointed his tiny horns at the orange tree. "See how your grandmother's oranges are the biggest, brightest, most delicious in the whole valley? That's my job! I add magic vitamin dust to make them grow extra special. Children who eat these oranges grow strong, run fast, and never get sick!"
Lily's eyes widened. "Grandma sells these oranges at the market. Children all over town eat them!"
"Exactly!" Barnaby bounced happily. "But I can only make vitamin magic when children believe in me. Most grown-ups are too busy to notice tiny bulls in fruit trees."
Suddenly, gray clouds rolled across the sky. A cold wind blew through the orchard.
Barnaby shivered. "Oh no! Storm clouds scare away my magic. If I don't finish dusting this tree with vitamin power, all the oranges will turn sour!"
The tiny bull looked sad. "I'm too small to climb in the wind."
Lily scooped him up gently. "I'll help!" She placed Barnaby on her shoulder and climbed into the orange tree. The wind howled, but she held tight while Barnaby hopped from branch to branch, sprinkling golden dust that shimmered like tiny stars.
Each time he touched an orange, it glowed warmer and brighter.
"Just one more!" Barnaby called, reaching for the highest orange.
Lily stretched as far as she could. Barnaby leaped—and landed perfectly!
A rainbow burst from the top of the tree, clearing the clouds instantly. Sunlight flooded the orchard.
"You did it!" Lily cheered.
Barnaby bowed. "WE did it." He pressed his tiny nose against her cheek. "Thank you for believing in me, Lily. Friendship is the strongest vitamin of all."
