The Tiny Bull's Orange Gift
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm. Every summer, she'd help pick fruit from the old orchard. But this summer felt different.
One afternoon, Lily reached for the brightest orange on the tree. It glowed like a tiny sun. As she touched it, her pocket buzzed—her iphone!
"Hello?" Lily answered.
"Please don't eat that orange!" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily looked around. No one was there. Then she noticed something moving on the orange—a bull no bigger than her thumb, with golden horns and shimmering silver fur.
"I'm Barnaby," the tiny bull said, puffing out his chest. "Guardian of the Magic Orchard. That orange holds magic seeds for next year's harvest. If you eat it, the orchard will lose its magic forever!"
Lily gasped. "But grandmother needs these oranges for the market!"
"Not THIS one," Barnaby explained. "Every hundred years, one special orange grows. Its seeds keep the orchard enchanted. Without magic, the trees stop bearing fruit."
Lily looked at the iphone in her hand. "Can I prove you're real?"
"Take my picture!" Barnaby struck a pose.
Through the iphone screen, Lily saw Barnaby surrounded by sparkles. But when she looked with her eyes, he was still just a tiny bull. The magic was only visible through technology!
"What should I do with the orange?" Lily asked.
"Plant its seeds where you choose—at sunset, under the moon's first light."
That evening, Lily planted the special seeds behind grandmother's house. As the moon rose, tiny orange sprouts emerged instantly. Barnaby danced joyfully.
"Thank you, Lily! You saved the orchard!"
Suddenly, grandmother appeared. "I knew you'd meet Barnaby someday," she smiled. "I was the orchard guardian before him. Now it's your turn to help protect the magic."
Lily grinned. Through her iphone, she saw Barnaby wink.
Sometimes the greatest adventures come in the smallest packages. And sometimes, magic lives in the most unexpected places—even in an orange, guarded by a bull the size of your thumb.
