The Thunder Padel's Secret
Lily loved her old padel racket. It had been her grandmother's, with stars painted along the edges in silver glitter. But tonight, as lightning flashed outside her window, something magical happened.
The padel began to glow! Lily watched amazed as a tiny figure climbed out from between the strings. It was green and bumpy, with one eye closed.
"Are you... a zombie?" Lily whispered.
"I'm ZOMBIE," the creature said proudly. "Zombie's Ordinary Magical Being In Emergency! I live in your padel to protect you from storms."
Suddenly, thunder CRACKED so loud the windows shook.
"Quick!" Zombie cried. "The lightning is angry! We need water to calm it down!"
Lily grabbed her raincoat. "I'm coming too!"
They went running through the garden, rain splashing around them like tiny silver diamonds. Zombie rode on Lily's shoulder, pointing the glowing padel toward the dark clouds.
"The lightning is lonely," Zombie explained. "It just wants to play!"
Lily raised the magical padel high. "Let's play with you!" she called to the sky.
A bolt of lightning zipped down—like a glowing golden ribbon—and danced around the padel! The more Lily laughed and swung her racket, the more the lightning played, turning into sparkling butterflies instead of scary bolts.
"The water needs to join the fun too!" Zombie said.
Lily dipped the padel into a puddle. Suddenly, water droplets rose up, glowing like tiny pearls, joining the lightning butterflies in a magical dance of light and rain.
For hours they played, Lily and Zombie and the storm, until the clouds drifted away peacefully, leaving behind a rainbow.
"Thank you for playing," the lightning seemed to whisper.
As Lily climbed back into bed, Zombie tucked himself back into the padel.
"Will you come out again?" Lily asked.
"Whenever you need magic," Zombie promised. "Remember: even scary things just want to be understood. Kindness turns storms into dances."
Lily hugged her glowing padel, knowing that with friendship and imagination, anything was possible.
