The Swimming Bull's Secret Lake

Lily loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she would rush to the old pond behind her house, dive into the cool blue water, and pretend she was a mermaid exploring an underwater kingdom.

One hot afternoon, something extraordinary happened. As Lily was floating on her back, watching fluffy clouds drift across the sky, she heard a strange splashing sound. She sat up and gasped.

Lily's fear vanished, replaced by excitement. "I'm Lily! Will you be my friend?"

Barnaby smiled, and Lily knew she had found the most wonderful friend imaginable.

That summer, Lily and Barnaby had the most amazing adventures swimming together. They explored underwater caves filled with glowing crystals, discovered ancient shipwrecks, and raced schools of colorful fish. Barnaby showed Lily how to hold her breath longer underwater and how to dive like a pro.

Other children thought Lily was silly when she talked about her swimming bull friend, but Lily didn't care. She knew that true friendship is rare and magical, whether your friend has two legs or four.

When summer ended, Barnaby gave Lily one of his shimmering scales on a silver chain. "Whenever you miss swimming with me, hold this and remember our friendship," he said. "And next summer, I'll be waiting."
