The Super Spinach Surprise
Max woke up with messy **hair** sticking up like a squirrel's tail, but today he didn't care. Today was the day of the big backyard pool party! Mom had been planning it for weeks. Max jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen. "Eat your **spinach**," Mom said, sliding a plate across the counter. Max wrinkled his nose. Spinach was his least favorite vegetable! But Mom gave him that special look—the one that meant no excuses. Max gulped it down, even though it tasted like green grass. Suddenly, his fingers began to tingle. Something strange was happening. Max ran outside and grabbed his **baseball** glove from the garage. His friend Leo arrived for their weekly game of catch. But when Leo threw the ball, Max caught it without even looking! Then he threw it back so hard it sailed over the fence into the neighbor's yard! "Whoa!" Leo cheered. "What did you eat for breakfast?" Max's neighbor Sofia came around the corner, holding her **padel** racquet. She and her brother were heading to the courts for their tennis lesson. "Want to play first?" Sofia asked. Max nodded. He had never played padel before, but his arms felt incredibly powerful. When Max hit the ball, it bounced off the court wall and zipped past Sofia so fast she couldn't even swing! "You're amazing!" Sofia gasped. Max's fingers were still tingling, and now his toes were too. He looked at the shimmering blue water of his backyard **pool**. Something was calling him. Max dove in, and suddenly he could swim faster than a fish! He did flips and spins and even raced Leo across the water—and won! Everyone cheered. That evening, as Max brushed his teeth, he looked in the mirror. His hair was still messy, but now he didn't mind. Because Max had discovered something magical: sometimes the things we think we dislike—like spinach—can turn into the most wonderful surprises. And the best adventures are the ones we share with friends.
