The Sunflower That Woke Up
Lily ran through her garden, her curly hair bouncing like springs. The July sun had turned everything brown and crispy. Even her favorite sunflower, Sunny, drooped sadly against the fence.
"Grandma says he's gone," Lily whispered, touching a brittle leaf. "But I don't believe her."
That night, Lily crept outside with her secret weapon: a magical watering can filled with sparkling water from the brook behind their house. The water twinkled like captured starlight.
"Wake up, Sunny," she sang, pouring the shimmering water around the sunflower's roots. "Please wake up."
Something extraordinary happened. Sunny's droopy head lifted! One by one, his golden petals stretched outward like waking fingers. The zombie sunflower—the one everyone said was dead—was alive again!
But Sunny wasn't just awake. He was HUNGRY.
"Papaya!" Sunny's leaves rustled. "I smell papaya!"
Lily giggled. She'd never heard a flower talk before! She rushed to the kitchen and returned with a slice of ripe papaya, orange and sweet. Sunny's petals wiggled with delight as he absorbed the papaya's energy.
"Thank you, Lily," Sunny rumbled happily. "Your water saved me, and your papaya made me strong. You believed in me when no one else did."
From that night on, Lily learned something important: sometimes things seem gone forever, but with enough love and care, they can surprise you. Sunny stood taller than ever, his golden face following the sun, while Lily's messy hair danced in the breeze beside him.
And every evening, she brought him water and papaya slices—just in case her magical friend got hungry again.
