The Storm Team's Secret Game
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he practiced in his backyard until the sun went down. But Leo had a secret — his hair turned bright blue whenever he got excited!
One rainy afternoon, Leo was running home when he spotted something strange. An old, forgotten cable stretched between two telephone poles was glowing. During a flash of lightning, the cable hummed with magical energy.
Leo reached out and touched it. ZAP! Suddenly, he wasn't standing on his street anymore. He was on the most beautiful baseball diamond he'd ever seen, floating among the clouds!
"You made it!" cheered a girl with silver hair named Stormy. "We needed a ninth player. Our teams are the Sunbeams and the Moonbeams. Which do you choose?"
Leo's blue hair sparkled as he joined the Moonbeams. The baseball was made of stardust, and when he hit it, it trailed glitter across the purple sky. Running bases felt like flying!
But then he noticed something — the Sunbeams were losing. Some players looked sad. Leo remembered what his mom always said: "True champions help others shine."
"Hey!" Leo called to the smallest Sunbeam player. "Try holding the bat like this." He showed her a better grip. On the next pitch, she hit a magnificent home run!
Both teams cheered. The lightning above flashed in celebration, and Stormy smiled. "You understand the real magic," she said. "It's not about winning — it's about playing together."
As the game ended, the cable glowed again, and Leo found himself back on his street, the rain slowing down. His hair was back to its normal brown color, but something felt different.
The next day at school, when a new kid dropped his lunch tray and everyone laughed, Leo didn't. He helped pick it up. His hair turned a little bit blue, and he smiled.
Sometimes, Leo still looked for that glowing cable during storms. But he realized the real magic wasn't in a cloud baseball game. The magic was being kind and helping others — on or off the field.
And whenever he played baseball with his friends, Leo made sure everyone got a chance to shine. That was his secret weapon, better than any stardust baseball or cloud-base running. True magic, Leo discovered, is simply being a good friend.
