The Storm Shepherd's Sky Journey
Ten-year-old Maya loved storms. While others hid indoors, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance with light. One evening, as lightning flashed across the dark clouds, she saw something impossible—a great white bull swimming through the storm clouds like they were an ocean.
Maya grabbed her yellow rainboots and dashed outside, running through the wet grass toward the old oak tree where the creature had landed. The bull wasn't ordinary. His fur shimmered like moonlight, and his horns were made of twisted rainbows.
"I'm Nimbus," the bull spoke, his voice like distant thunder. "I swim through storms, carrying dreams to children who can't sleep. But tonight, I'm lost."
Thunder rumbled ominously. The storm was worsening.
"I can help!" Maya offered without hesitation. "I know every path through these woods."
Nimbus lowered his magnificent head. "Climb on, little one. Swimming through lightning is faster than running."
Maya mounted the cloud-soft bull, and suddenly they were soaring upward, leaving the ground far below. They swam through rivers of purple lightning, past islands of floating clouds shaped like castles and whales. Wind kissed Maya's cheeks, carrying the scent of rain and magic.
"There!" Nimbus pointed with his rainbow horn. A tiny glow flickered near a dark cloud—a lost dream bubble, about to burst in the harsh storm.
Together, bull and girl navigated the electric currents, reaching the dream just in time. It was a beautiful golden sphere containing wishes for puppies and ice cream and flying bicycles.
As they delivered the dream safely to a child's window below, Maya understood her gift. She wasn't just watching storms anymore—she was their guardian.
"Come back tomorrow, Storm Shepherd," Nimbus called as he swam toward the horizon. "The clouds always need friends who aren't afraid of a little lightning."
Maya smiled, already running toward home with her heart full of magic. Some storms were meant to be weathered. Others were meant to be weathered together.
