The Storm's Secret Friend
Lily was a curious girl who loved to spy on the magical world hidden in her backyard. Every afternoon, she would peek through her fence with her magnifying glass, watching ants march, butterflies dance, and birds sing tiny secrets to each other.
One stormy evening, as flashes of lightning turned the sky purple, Lily noticed something strange. Her pet goldfish, Finn, was swimming frantically in his bowl. With each lightning flash outside, Finn would glow like a tiny golden star!
Lily pressed her nose against the glass. "Finn? Can you hear me?" she whispered.
The lightning flashed again, and suddenly, a small voice piped up, "Yes, Lily! I can only talk when the lightning strikes! It gives me magic power for just a moment!"
Lily gasped. Finn had never spoken before!
Behind her house, in the woods, a giant bear emerged. He wasn't scary though – he carried a wounded bird gently in his massive paws.
"Please help!" Finn cried as the lightning flashed again. "The bear needs to get that little bird to safety, but the storm is too fierce!"
Lily knew what to do. She grabbed her flashlight and carefully guided the bear through her garden to the warm garden shed where her mother kept blankets. The bear placed the bird on a soft cushion, and together they watched over the little creature until the storm passed.
The bear nodded solemnly to Lily. "Thank you, small friend. Even though I am big and strong, sometimes I need help too. That's why I watch over all the little creatures in these woods – because everyone, big or small, deserves protection."
From that day on, Lily understood something important: true strength isn't about being big or powerful. It's about having a kind heart and helping others, whether you're a curious girl, a talking goldfish, or a gentle bear.
And whenever lightning flashed, Finn would always have a magical message to share.
