The Storm's Secret Friend
Lily had the most extraordinary hair anyone had ever seen. It wasn't just curly—it was like a golden cloud that floated around her head, always reaching toward the sky. Other children laughed, but Lily didn't mind. She knew her hair was special. She could feel it tingling whenever a storm approached.
One afternoon, dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a giant waking from a long nap. Lily ran to her favorite hill to watch the show. That's when she saw him—a magnificent white bull standing right on the clouds above!
The bull was made of condensed storm clouds, his hooves striking sparks with every step. Lightning danced around his horns like golden ribbons. He looked down at Lily with eyes that held the color of rain.
"You're not afraid?" the bull's voice rumbled, gentle as distant thunder.
Lily's hair stood straight up, crackling with excitement. "You're beautiful!"
The cloud bull stepped closer, his hooves leaving trails of tiny lightning bolts. "I am Tempest, keeper of storms. For a hundred years, children have run from me. But you... your hair reaches for me."
"It's always loved the sky," Lily smiled. "Sometimes I think it's trying to fly."
Tempest lowered his magnificent head. "Then perhaps it needs wings."
The bull touched his lightning-wreathed horn to Lily's hair. Golden sparks showered down like magical rain. Suddenly, Lily felt lighter than air. Her hair began to glow, floating upward like it had always dreamed.
"You've given my hair magic!" Lily gasped.
"No," Tempest nuzzled her hand. "I only woke what was already there. Your hair wasn't trying to fly—it was trying to light up the world."
From that day on, Lily's hair glowed softly during storms, guiding frightened children home. She and Tempest became best friends, dancing on clouds together whenever storms came. The other children stopped laughing and started watching in wonder.
And Lily learned that the things that make us different are often the things that make us magical. Sometimes, what seems strange is simply something special waiting to be discovered.
