The Storm's Magical Surprise

Emma loved watching storms from her bedroom window. One rainy evening, the biggest lightning bolt she'd ever seen flashed across the sky — ZAP! It struck Farmer Brown's field next door.

Emma grabbed her yellow raincoat and boots. Something told her this wasn't just ordinary weather. When she reached the field, her pet bull Barnaby was already there, pawing at the ground nervously. Barnaby was usually gentle, but now he seemed determined to protect something.

'What is it, Barnaby?' Emma whispered.

Near the spot where the lightning had struck, something was moving. Emma gasped. It looked like a zombie from her storybooks — gray, wobbly, and moving slowly. But this zombie wasn't scary. It was a tiny creature made of soft gray clouds, with big sad eyes.

'Is it... real?' Emma wondered aloud.

The zombie creature squeaked and tried to hide. Barnaby stepped forward, and instead of being scared, the creature reached for the bull's nose. Barnaby nuzzled it gently.

'Oh!' Emma realized. 'You're not a zombie at all. You're a storm cloud that got stuck!' The lightning had brought a piece of the storm down to earth, and now the little cloud couldn't find its way home.

Emma grabbed her umbrella and pointed it toward the sky. 'Barnaby, help me lift him!' The brave bull lowered his strong back, and Emma climbed up, carefully guiding the cloud creature onto Barnaby's shoulders.

'To the sky!' Emma cheered.

Barnaby galloped across the field, and as his hooves thundered, Emma raised her umbrella high. The cloud creature floated up, up, UP — until a gentle breeze caught it and pulled it home to the storm clouds above.

One final lightning bolt flashed — not scary now, but like a goodbye spark. Then the clouds drifted away, leaving behind a perfect rainbow.

Emma hugged Barnaby's neck. 'Not all zombies are scary,' she said. 'Sometimes they're just lost friends who need help finding their way home.'
