The Storm's Magic Gift

Lily and Max loved rainy days. While other kids stayed inside, they splashed through puddles in their yellow boots, wishing for adventure.

One afternoon, dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy. Then they saw it—a strange green glow in the old park. Inside the abandoned fountain, a small figure was stuck, moving slowly like a sleepy robot. Its eyes were closed, and it shuffled aimlessly.

"It looks like a zombie," Max whispered, but not scared. Curious.

The figure was made of mist and starlight, caught in a zombie-like trance. Rain fell harder, filling the fountain with water. Lightning flashed purple across the sky.

Suddenly, Lily understood. "The lightning is magic! It woke something up—but not all the way!"

The children knew what to do. Max started running around the fountain, whooping loudly. Lily began swimming in the pooling water, sending ripples toward the trapped creature. The movement stirred the magic.

More lightning crackled. Each flash made the mist-figure glow brighter.

"Wake up!" they called together. "You're safe!"

The creature's eyes opened—sparkling like sapphires. The zombie-like feeling melted away. It was a Storm Sprite, guardian of summer showers!

"Thank you," the Sprite whispered, voice like wind chimes. "I was stuck in the old fountain's spell for a hundred years. Your brave hearts freed me."

The Sprite danced in the rain, making every droplet shimmer like diamonds. As a gift, she touched their cheeks with a finger of light.

From that day on, whenever lightning flashed during summer storms, Lily and Max knew their friend was dancing in the clouds. And they learned: even scary-looking things just might need kindness to reveal their true magic.
