The Storm's Magic Gift

Maya loved her frizzy red hair. It bounced when she skipped, sparkled in sunlight, and made her feel like a friendly lion. But today, she sat by her window as gray clouds gathered overhead.

A flash of lightning split the sky! CRACK! Thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy growling. But then something magical happened. A tiny spark, no bigger than a firefly, drifted down from the clouds and landed on the old electric cable outside her window. The cable began to glow with soft golden light, shimmering like melted honey.

Maya's neighbor, old Mr. Tomas, shuffled out his door. He held his favorite wooden padel, worn smooth from years of play. He looked worried.

"Maya! Have you seen my lucky tennis ball? The storm must have blown it somewhere!"

Maya's eyes widened. "Wait, Mr. Tomas! I have an idea!"

She ran to her room and grabbed her special flashlight—the one her grandmother had given her. She clicked it on, and the beam danced across the glowing cable. Wherever the light touched, little golden bubbles floated up like magic!

"What if we follow the bubbles?" Maya suggested. "They might lead us to your ball!"

Together, they tromped through the yard, following the golden trail. Maya's red hair whipped in the wind as they searched. Behind the old oak tree, under the garden shed, through the tall grass—until finally...

There it was! Mr. Tomas's lucky tennis ball, nestled safely in a bird's nest, guarded by a mother robin who had used it to keep her eggs warm.

"Oh!" Mr. Tomas whispered. "She needed it more than I did."

"We can find you another ball," Maya said gently. "The storm gave us something better—we made a new friend!"

The next day, Maya and Mr. Tomas played padel together under sunny skies. Her hair bounced. He laughed. And sometimes, when storms came, Maya would watch for that magical glow on the cable, remembering that even dark clouds can bring unexpected gifts—especially when you have friends to share them with.
