The Storm's Magic Gift

Lily loved watching storms from her bedroom window. But tonight was different. Tonight, the sky turned a strange shade of purple, and lightning flashed in colors she'd never seen before.

Her golden retriever, Max, whimpered at the door. He'd always been afraid of storms, hiding under the bed until the thunder passed. But something about tonight's storm made him curious instead of scared.

"Come on, Max," Lily whispered, cracking the window open. "Let's see what's out there."

To her surprise, Max didn't hide. Instead, he started running in circles around her room, his tail wagging excitedly. Then he dashed outside into the rain.

"Max! Come back!" Lily cried, grabbing her yellow raincoat and chasing after him.

Max was running toward the old oak tree at the edge of the yard. A brilliant bolt of orange lightning struck the ground right beside it. Lily gasped—but instead of burning the grass, the lightning made a tiny orange tree sprout instantly from the earth.

Max stopped running and sniffed the magical tree. It grew taller with each flash of lightning, its branches heavy with glowing orange fruits.

Lily approached carefully. The oranges hummed with energy, warm against the cold rain. When she picked one, it felt like holding a piece of sunshine.

"Do you think this is magic?" she asked Max. He barked happily and licked her hand.

Inside, Lily's grandma was making tea. Lily showed her the magical orange, which still glowed softly even in the warm kitchen light.

"The storm brought you a gift," Grandma said, smiling. "Sometimes what seems scary can bring something beautiful. You and Max were brave to follow your curiosity."

That night, Lily and Max shared the orange. It tasted like sunshine mixed with rain, sweet and tangy all at once. And somehow, Lily knew she'd never be afraid of storms again.

Because now she knew: even the darkest clouds could bring magic—if you were brave enough to run toward them.
