The Storm Pyramid
Leo loved his backyard more than anything in the world. Every day after school, he'd explore behind the old oak tree, searching for hidden treasures. But today, the sky turned dark gray, and distant rumbled warned of a coming storm.
Leo hurried inside, but his toy bull—a wooden figure his grandfather had carved—slipped from his pocket and tumbled into the tall grass. "I'll find you tomorrow!" Leo called through the open window as the first drops fell.
That night, lightning cracked the sky like whip snaps. Thunder shook the house. Leo watched from his window, eyes wide, when suddenly—a brilliant bolt struck the oak tree!
The next morning, Leo rushed outside. Where nothing had grown before, a small golden pyramid now sparkled in the sunlight. It was no bigger than a lunchbox, covered in strange glowing symbols.
"Hello?" Leo whispered.
The pyramid's sides folded open like petals. Inside sat his wooden bull, but it had changed—now its eyes shone with amber light, and it moved!
"Thank you, Leo," said the bull in a voice like distant thunder. "The lightning magic woke me. I am Fernando, guardian of the Storm Pyramid. For centuries, I slept until someone kind needed me."
Leo's mouth hung open. "You're REAL?"
"As real as your adventures," Fernando smiled. "The pyramid chose you because you have a brave heart. Every storm, we can meet here. I'll teach you to be strong like lightning, steady like a pyramid, and gentle like rain."
Leo picked up Fernando, and they watched clouds drift across the blue sky together. He couldn't wait for the next storm—and for all the adventures waiting in his own backyard.
Sometimes, Leo learned, the greatest magic is right where you are. You just need a little lightning to help you see it.
