The Storm Pyramid
Lily loved thunderstorms. When the sky turned purple and rumbled like a hungry tummy, she pressed her nose against the window glass, watching for the flash of LIGHTNING that painted the world bright white.
One rainy afternoon, Lily discovered something magical in her attic. Tucked behind dusty boxes stood a miniature PYRAMID made of golden crystals, no bigger than her hand. When she touched it, the pyramid hummed like a singing bowl.
"Come play!" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily gasped. A little girl about her size popped out from behind the pyramid! She had silver hair that floated like she was underwater.
"I'm Cleo!" said the girl. "The Storm Pyramid brought you here. Want to go SWIMMING in the clouds?"
"Clouds aren't WATER," Lily said, confused.
"These are special clouds!" Cleo grabbed her hand. Suddenly, they were floating upward, higher than her roof, higher than the tallest trees. All around them, puffy clouds shimmered like floating swimming pools filled with rainbow-colored water.
Lily dipped her toes in. Warm! She laughed and splashed, kicking droplets that turned into tiny sparkles.
But then something grey lumbered toward them through the mist. A sad, droopy creature shuffled slowly, its arms hanging loose.
"A ZOMBIE!" Cleo squealed, hiding behind Lily.
The zombie sighed. "I'm not scary. I'm just lonely. Everyone runs away when they see me."
Lily looked closer. The zombie's grey skin was actually made of storm clouds. His eyes were gentle, not mean.
"Want to splash with us?" Lily asked. "We're playing in the rainbow clouds!"
The zombie's face lit up. "Really?"
"Really!" Cleo peeked out and nodded. "Sorry I was scared."
The three of them played until the storm passed. When Lily climbed back through her attic window, the pyramid glowed softly.
"Come back anytime," Cleo whispered from the crystal.
Lily smiled. She had learned something important: things that seem scary might just be lonely. And the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to make new friends.
