The Storm Pool Friends

Barnaby was a bull who loved flowers. Each morning, he skipped through the meadow, careful not to step on the little blue blossoms. But the other animals laughed.

"Bulls aren't supposed to be gentle!" they mooed.

One day, Barnaby heard crying. It was Bertha, a bear with the softest brown fur, sitting by a puddle.

"What's wrong?" Barnaby asked.

"The storm scared me," Bertha sniffled. "I was running home when thunder shook the trees. I got lost."

Barnaby smiled. "I know somewhere safe."

They walked together through the whispering forest. Just then—CRACK! A bolt of lightning flashed, painting the sky purple and gold.

Bertha trembled. "I'm scared of storms."

"Close your eyes," Barnaby said gently. "I'll guide you."

But the rain came harder, flooding their path. Then Barnaby saw it—a hidden pool glowing with rainbow colors, somehow untouched by the storm.

"Look!" he cried.

They ran toward the magical pool. When they stepped in, the water was warm and bubbly, like a giant bathtub. Lightning flashed above, but inside the pool, everything was peaceful.

"This is wonderful!" Bertha splashed happily.

Suddenly, a tiny frog appeared on a lily pad. "Thank you for finding my home," it croaked. "The storm pool protects anyone who is kind."

The frog waved its webbed foot, and delicious berries floated toward them.

Barnaby and Bertha ate and laughed. They weren't scared anymore—they were having an adventure!

When morning came, the storm passed. The pool glowed one last time before returning to normal.

"Will you be my friend?" Bertha asked. "Even if I'm a bear and you're a bull?"

"Best friends forever," Barnaby promised.

From that day on, Barnaby and Bertha played together every day. The other animals learned something important: the best friends aren't the ones who are the same. They're the ones who help each other through the storms.

And whenever it rained, they'd visit their special pool, remembering the magical night a bull and bear discovered that kindness creates the best shelter of all.
