The Storm King's Secret

runningorangedogpalmlightning

Leo was **running** through the grassy park, his golden retriever Sunny chasing after him with ears flopping. They played every afternoon, but today something felt different.

Sunny stopped beside an old **palm** tree and barked at something glowing in the grass. It was the brightest **orange** Leo had ever seen - not a fruit or flower, but a tiny ball of pure light that pulsed like a heartbeat.

Suddenly, the sky darkened. **Lightning** struck the palm tree, but this wasn't ordinary lightning. It was orange! The same glowing orange as the light on the ground.

The tiny orange ball floated toward Sunny's nose. POOF! Her fur began glowing with the same magical light. She could jump higher than the palm tree, run faster than the wind, and somehow Leo could hear her thoughts!

"We have to catch the orange lightning!" Sunny's voice echoed in his mind.

A shadow formed above them - a Storm King made of purple clouds. "That's MY lightning!" he boomed. "Give it back!"

More orange lightning flashed around them. Leo grabbed Sunny's glowing paw. "It chose us!"

The Storm King laughed. "Perhaps you're right. That lightning searches for pure hearts. And true friends." He floated closer. "I've been so lonely in my cloud kingdom. I forgot that magic works best when shared."

He tapped Sunny's forehead with a wispy finger. "Keep this power. Use it well."

The Storm King dissolved into rain - gentle, warm rain that smelled like sunshine.

Sunny's glow faded, but Leo felt her fur still tingling with magic. As they walked home, Sunny pressed her nose into Leo's **palm**.

"I'll always protect you," she whispered in his mind. "That's what friends do."

That evening, when a summer storm raged outside, Sunny curled beside Leo's bed. Her fur glowed softly orange, and tiny lightning bolts crackled harmlessly around her like a magical shield.

Leo smiled. Some secrets were too wonderful to keep, but this one felt just right - a magical secret between best friends, sealed with orange lightning and the promise of forever.

Whenever storms came, Sunny would glow. And Leo would never be afraid again.
