The Storm Game Champion

Max the golden retriever spent every afternoon watching the neighborhood kids play sports from behind his white picket fence. On the left side, teenagers played padel, their racquets making satisfying *pop-pop-pop* sounds against the glass walls. On the right side, younger kids practiced baseball, hitting balls into the field beyond.

One summer evening, as dark purple clouds gathered overhead, something magical happened. A bolt of lightning cracked across the sky—ZZ-ZIP!—and suddenly, everything began to glow.

The padel racquets shimmered with starlight. The baseball bats sparkled like moonbeams. And Max? Max felt a tingling in his paws.

"Come play!" whispered the wind.

Max squeezed through a loose fence board and trotted onto the enchanted padel court. The racquet floated into his mouth, lighter than a feather. When he swung it—WHOOSH!—tiny galaxies spun from the strings.

Then he bounded to the baseball field. A ball rolled toward him, glowing like a miniature sun. Max nudged it with his nose, and it soared into the clouds, leaving a trail of rainbow sparkles.

For one magical hour, Max played every game: dancing around the padel court, chasing baseballs across the grass, while lightning painted the sky above like nature's fireworks.

"You're amazing!" cried the kids, who had appeared to watch.

As dawn approached, the magic faded. The racquets became ordinary again. The baseball stopped glowing.

But something remained.

"Tomorrow," said a girl named Lily, opening the gate wide, "you don't have to watch from the fence anymore. You can play with us."

And Max learned that sometimes, the magic we find in storms helps us see what should have been true all along: everyone belongs in the game.
