The Storm Chaser's Hat
Maya's curly hair bounced as she ran through the meadow, her favorite yellow hat flapping behind her. She was running faster than ever before, chasing something extraordinary.
Above her, the sky had turned the most brilliant shade of purple Maya had ever seen. Lightning wasn't falling down—it was dancing sideways, weaving through the clouds like glowing ribbons.
"Wait!" she called, laughing as she sprinted toward the old papaya tree at the edge of the forest.
A tiny creature no bigger than her hand was zooming around the papaya tree, leaving trails of sparkly light. It looked like a hummingbird mixed with a starburst!
The creature zipped toward Maya, then snatched the yellow hat right off her head! Before Maya could gasp, her wild hair stood straight up, tingling with energy.
"Hey!" Maya giggled, reaching for her hat.
The little creature dropped the hat on the highest papaya on the tree, then did a happy spin. More lightning appeared, but this time it spelled out letters: H-E-L-P.
Maya's eyes went wide. "You need help?"
The creature nodded and pointed to a baby bird stuck in the branches above the papayas.
Without thinking, Maya climbed. Her hair kept buzzing with that strange lightning energy, making her feel light as air. When she reached the frightened bird, a gentle lightning bolt guided her hand to the perfect branch.
The bird chirped with joy and flew away.
That night, Maya learned something magical: sometimes running toward a storm leads to the brightest adventures. And she always kept that yellow hat nearby—just in case her lightning friend needed her again.
