The Storm Chaser's Brave Friend
Lily lived in a cottage at the edge of the meadow, where the grass met the forest. She loved storms more than anything. When dark clouds gathered, she would press her nose against the window, counting the seconds between flashes.
One afternoon, the sky turned purple and strange. A storm was coming, but this one felt different. The air hummed with electricity. Lily grabbed her yellow raincoat and rushed outside to watch.
That's when she saw him—a massive bull with horns like polished silver, standing in the center of the meadow. His coat was the color of storm clouds, and his eyes held the wisdom of a thousand seasons. But the bull wasn't running away from the storm. He was walking toward it.
Lily followed, her boots squishing in the wet grass. "Mr. Bull!" she called. "Where are you going?"
The bull stopped and turned his massive head. "The lightning has taken something precious," he rumbled softly. "My friend Firefly is trapped in the old oak, and a branch fell during the wind. Only I am strong enough to move it."
Lily's eyes went wide. "I'll help you!"
Together they moved toward the old oak as the first drops of rain began to fall. Lightning cracked across the sky like a whip made of light. The bull charged forward, his hooves thundering against the ground. He lowered his horns and pushed with all his might against the fallen branch.
But it wouldn't budge.
"I need help," the bull said sadly.
Lily thought quickly. She grabbed a sturdy branch and wedged it under the fallen log like a lever. "Push together with me!" she shouted.
The bull put all his strength against the branch while Lily pulled on her lever. Lightning flashed again, illuminating their struggle. With a mighty crack, the fallen branch rolled away!
A tiny firefly fluttered out, its glow bright even in the daylight. It circled the bull's nose and landed on Lily's shoulder, twinkling with gratitude.
"Thank you," the bull said. "You were braver than any storm."
Running back home as the rain poured down, Lily realized something wonderful: courage comes in all sizes, and sometimes the strongest friends are the ones you find when you least expect them.
