The Storm-Bull Who Swam
Emma loved the water. Every summer day, she'd go swimming in the old quarry lake, diving down to see what magical treasures waited below.
One afternoon, as thunder rumbled and lightning flashed across the darkening sky, Emma spotted something strange. A thick black cable snaked along the lakebed, disappearing into the deep water.
Curious, she swam down, following the cable deeper and deeper. The water grew mysterious and dark around her.
Suddenly, lightning struck the surface above. Through the glowing water, Emma saw magnificent shape—a bull made entirely of golden light!
The storm-bull was trapped, its great horn tangled in the old cable. Emma pulled at the knotted wire, but it wouldn't budge. She needed to surface for air.
"I'll help you!" she promised the glowing creature.
The bull's kind eyes watched her swim away. Emma knew she couldn't free it alone. She ran to get her grandfather, who had once worked with cables.
"That cable hasn't been used in fifty years!" he said. Together, they returned with tools.
As lightning danced across the sky again, Emma dove down. Her grandfather pulled from their small boat while Emma untangled the bull's golden horn.
Finally, with a great burst of light, the storm-bull was free!
It didn't swim away. Instead, it created a magical path of lightning across the water's surface—like glowing stepping stones just for Emma.
Emma stepped onto the first lightning-stone. It felt warm and tingled beneath her feet. The bull led her on a magical journey across the lake, showing her secret places only storm creatures knew.
They became the best of friends. Every thunderstorm after that, Emma would wait at the quarry. And the storm-bull would appear, its lightning path ready for adventure.
Emma learned that courage means helping others, even when they seem strange at first. Some things that seem scary—like bulls and storms—might just be friends you haven't met yet.
