The Storm Bull's Secret Friend
Ten-year-old Maya loved storms more than anything. While other children hid under blankets when thunder rumbled, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance with purple and silver light.
One rainy afternoon, Maya spotted something strange in the alley behind her apartment building. A creature stood near the old telephone cable that hung from the pole — but it wasn't an ordinary animal. It was a miniature bull made entirely of crackling blue lightning!
The tiny storm-bull pawed at the muddy ground, leaving small sparks wherever it stepped. Maya opened her window slowly.
"Hello there," she whispered.
The lightning bull looked up with eyes that glowed like flashbulbs. It seemed frightened, trapped in the city so far from its home in the clouds.
"Are you lost?" Maya asked gently.
The bull nodded its shimmering head. Then it did something amazing — it pointed one glowing hoof toward the thick black cable above them.
Maya understood. The cable could help! She remembered watching repair workers climb those poles. If the bull could reach the top of the cable, maybe it could follow the electrical lines all the way back to the storm clouds.
"I'll help you, friend," Maya promised.
She grabbed her raincoat and rushed outside. Using a wooden ladder she'd found in the basement, Maya climbed carefully toward the cable. She wasn't afraid — she was helping someone who needed her.
The lightning bull followed, climbing effortlessly up the pole, its tiny hooves leaving glowing footprints on the wood. When it reached the cable, the whole wire hummed with energy. The bull stepped onto it and began to shine brighter and brighter.
"Thank you!" the bull seemed to say without speaking, its voice sounding like distant thunder.
Then, with a magnificent flash, the tiny bull transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot upward along the cable, disappearing into the dark clouds above.
Maya clapped her hands in delight. She had made the most wonderful friend — a friend made of storms and magic. And from that day on, whenever she saw lightning flash across the sky, she knew it was the bull saying hello.
Sometimes, she even winked back.
