The Storm Bull's Secret

Emma loved swimming more than anything. Every summer day, she'd slip into the cool blue water of Miller's Pond, her long brown hair floating around her like seaweed.

One stormy afternoon, while everyone else ran home, Emma stayed. Dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled. Then she saw it — a great golden bull standing at the pond's edge, but this was no ordinary bull. Its horns crackled with lightning, and its eyes glowed like captured stars.

Emma hid behind an old willow tree to spy on the magnificent creature. The storm bull dipped one massive hoof into the water, and suddenly the pond lit up with magical light. Tiny fish swam toward it, glowing like lanterns.

"You're not afraid?" a deep voice rumbled. Emma jumped. The bull was looking right at her!

"I-I've never seen a storm bull before," Emma stammered. "Are you magic?"

The bull lowered its head. "I am the keeper of summer storms. My lightning brings rain to thirsty gardens. But I've lost something precious — my lightning mane grew so wild, it snarled itself into knots! Now I can't make proper storms."

Emma saw the problem. The bull's magnificent mane was hopelessly tangled.

"I can help!" Emma volunteered. "My grandmother taught me how to braid hair."

The storm bull lowered its giant head. Emma's small fingers worked carefully through the crackling locks. As she braided, lightning shot harmlessly into the water, making the pond sparkle.

"Thank you, little friend," the bull said. "For your kindness, I'll give you a gift." He nudged a smooth lightning-polished stone toward her. "Keep this, and you'll always have summer adventures."

Emma held the warm stone as the bull vanished into the clouds. From that day on, every time she went swimming, tiny glowing fish followed her, and she knew her friend the storm bull was watching from above.

The moral? Even small hands can help big friends, and kindness unlocks magic everywhere.
