The Storm Bull's Secret
Emma loved her cat, Mittens. The fluffy orange tabby would curl up on Emma's pillow every night, purring like a little motor. But tonight, Mittens kept twitching her ears and staring out the window.
"What is it, Mittens?" Emma whispered.
CRASH! Thunder rattled the house. Outside, lightning painted the sky bright purple.
Emma's grandmother bustled into the room. "Time for your bedtime vitamin, sweetie." She handed Emma a small pink tablet. "This will help you dream big dreams."
Emma swallowed the vitamin and snuggled under her quilt with Mittens. The lightning flashed again, and this time Emma saw something amazing. A great bull made of starlight stood in the backyard! His horns gleamed like silver crescents, and his hooves sparkled with tiny galaxies.
Mittens meowed softly and tapped her paw against the window glass.
"Do you see him too?" Emma gasped.
The starlight bull looked up at her window and nodded his massive head. Emma's heart raced with excitement. She opened the window quietly.
"Come down, little friend," the bull's voice boomed like gentle thunder.
Emma climbed onto the bull's back, and Mittens leaped up too. Together they soared into the stormy sky, riding through clouds that tasted like cotton candy. The bull's name was Thunder-Heart, and he was the guardian of all storm dreams.
"I bring children vitamins of courage," Thunder-Heart explained as they flew. "Every lightning bolt carries a tiny bit of bravery. When you see lightning flash, it means someone somewhere just found their courage."
They dipped and zoomed through the rain, and Emma laughed with pure joy. When they returned to her bedroom, Thunder-Heart whispered, "Remember, courage is already inside you. The vitamin your grandmother gives you works because you believe it does."
Emma woke up to sunshine. Mittens was sleeping peacefully beside her. Had it all been a dream? Then she noticed something on her pillow—a tiny silver hair that sparkled like starlight.
"Real magic is believing," Emma whispered, hugging her cat tight. And from that day on, she never feared storms again, knowing each lightning bolt brought courage to someone who needed it.
