The Storm Bull's Magic Pool
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm, especially on summer afternoons when the heat shimmered across the fields. But her favorite spot was the secret pool hidden behind the old willow tree—a crystal-clear watering hole where dragonflies danced and frogs sang croaky songs.
One particularly hot afternoon, Lily ran to the pool, but stopped dead in her tracks. A massive bull with coal-black fur and golden horns stood there, looking scared. His hooves made nervous splashes in the water.
"Hello there," Lily whispered. "Are you lost?"
The bull shook his massive head. "No, little one. I'm Barnaby, and I have a secret."
Lily moved closer, her heart full of wonder. "What kind of secret?"
Barnaby leaned in close. "Whenever there's a storm, I become magical. Lightning fills my horns with starlight, and I can grant wishes. But I'm frightened of storms."
Suddenly, the sky darkened. Clouds gathered like gray wool, and far in the distance, lightning flashed like cracks in the sky.
Barnaby trembled. "It's coming. I should hide."
"No!" Lily grabbed his hoof. "Barnaby, you're not alone. Friends help each other be brave."
The storm arrived quickly. Rain poured down in silver sheets, and lightning flashed closer. Barnaby's golden horns began to glow with starlight, brighter and brighter, until they pulsed like miniature suns.
"I can grant one wish," Barnaby said, his voice booming with thunder. "What do you desire, brave friend?"
Lily thought about all the toys she wanted, all the treats she craved. But then she looked at the beautiful, magical bull who had been so afraid.
"I wish for you to never be scared of storms again. You're too wonderful to spend your life hiding."
The lightning struck one final time—ZAP!—and Barnaby's whole body glowed with rainbow light. When it faded, his eyes weren't scared anymore. They shone with confidence.
"Thank you, Lily," Barnaby said. "You taught me that courage isn't about not being afraid. It's about having friends who stand with you."
From that day on, whenever storms came, Lily and Barnaby would stand together at the pool. His horns would light up the sky, and she would laugh at the magic they shared. The bravest thing, she learned, wasn't magic at all—it was kindness.
