The Storm Bull's Gift

Ten-year-old Maya loved stormy days. While other children hid inside when thunder rumbled, she pressed her nose against the window, watching the sky dance with purple and gray.

One rainy afternoon, Maya saw something extraordinary in the meadow behind her house. A magnificent creature stood there—not an ordinary animal, but a Storm Bull. His fur shimmered like silver, and his curved horns crackled with tiny sparks. He was drinking from a puddle, his tongue moving gracefully through the water.

Maya stepped outside, her rainboots splashing. The Storm Bull raised his head and looked at her with eyes the color of storm clouds. His lightning-filled horns glowed brighter.

"I've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit," he spoke in a voice like distant thunder.

"You're beautiful," Maya whispered.

"I am the guardian of storms," the bull said proudly. "But my leg is injured from running through brambles yesterday. I cannot summon the rain clouds to help the farmers' thirsty crops."

Maya knelt beside him and gently examined his leg. A long scratch marred his silver coat. She ran to her garden and gathered healing leaves her grandmother had taught her about. Returning, she carefully placed them on the wound, then wrapped it with a soft cloth from her pocket.

"Thank you, little friend," the Storm Bull said warmly. "Your kindness will be remembered."

His horns blazed with brilliant lightning as he lowered his head respectfully. Suddenly, rain poured from the sky—not frightening rain, but gentle, nourishing drops that made the meadow glow.

"Whenever you need courage," the bull told Maya, "call my name, and I'll come running."

He galloped into the clouds, leaving behind a rainbow.

That evening, Maya learned something important: true bravery isn't facing storms alone—it's offering help to those who need it, even when you're small. And sometimes, the most magical friends appear when you least expect them.
