The Storm Bear's Gift
Lily loved her grandmother's old iPhone. It didn't have fancy games, but Grandma said it held something magical.
"When you need help most," Grandma whispered, "show the screen to the sky."
One hot afternoon, Lily hiked to her favorite spot by the stream. The water sparkled like diamonds, and she dipped her toes in the cool flow. Suddenly, dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a giant tummy.
Lily's heart beat fast. She remembered Grandma's words. She held up the iPhone.
A flash of lightning cracked through the sky. It struck a nearby pine tree, and when Lily looked again, a magnificent bear stepped out from the light. His fur shimmered like silver, his eyes held ancient wisdom.
"I am Storm Bear," he rumbled gently. "You called for help."
"I... I didn't mean to!" Lily stammered.
The bear smiled. "Sometimes the bravest calls happen by accident. You seek shelter from rain?"
Lily nodded. "The water in the stream is rising fast."
Storm Bear raised his massive paw. The rain slowed, then danced around them like tiny silver butterflies. The water in the stream calmed, forming a perfect mirror.
"The lightning showed me your path," the bear said. "Now I show you mine."
He touched the iPhone screen with one claw. Images appeared: forests, oceans, mountains, children around the world playing, learning, dreaming.
"Your grandmother knew something important," Storm Bear whispered. "This tiny window connects hearts across the earth. Use it wisely."
Lily understood. The magic wasn't in the phone itself, but in how it helped people connect.
"Thank you," she said, hugging the bear's silvery fur.
"Remember," Storm Bear said as lightning flashed again and he began to fade, "storms pass. But friendship and kindness last forever."
The bear vanished. Rain sprinkled gently now. Lily walked home, the iPhone safely in her pocket. She couldn't wait to call her grandmother and tell her about the magical afternoon.
That night, Lily video-called Grandma. Through the screen, their love traveled like lightning — bright, warm, and connecting hearts across the distance. And in the sky beyond her window, Lily saw a star twinkle like Storm Bear's wise, kind smile.
