The Stone Sphinx's Magic Baseballs
Leo loved **baseball** more than anything. Every day after school, he'd practice hitting in his backyard, dreaming of hitting a home run in a real game.
One stormy evening, as lightning crackled across the sky, Leo noticed something strange behind the old oak tree. A stone statue he'd never seen before—a **sphinx** with wise, sad eyes. But as lightning flashed again, the sphinx moved!
"I am Zephyr," the sphinx rumbled, his voice like distant thunder. "For a hundred years, I've guarded this hill. But now I'm weak. I need magic to stay awake."
Leo's eyes widened. "How can I help?"
Zephyr smiled. "Do you see those **lightning** bolts? They carry magic power. If you can catch their energy in something round and smooth, it will become my medicine."
Leo looked at his baseball mitt, then at his favorite baseball. "I have an idea!"
The storm raged on as Leo stood ready, baseball in hand. Every time lightning flashed, he held the ball high, capturing the spark. After five strikes, the ball glowed with golden light.
"Perfect!" Zephyr exclaimed. "These magical **vitamin** balls will restore my strength. Each one holds the power of storms and sunshine together."
Leo tossed the glowing baseballs to Zephyr, who swallowed them whole. With each gulp, the sphinx grew stronger, his stone body turning warm and golden.
"Thank you, Leo," Zephyr said, his eyes twinkling like stars. "You showed kindness even when you were scared. That's the truest magic of all."
Leo grinned. "Anytime, Zephyr. Maybe tomorrow we can play catch?"
The sphinx laughed, a sound like gentle rain. "I would like that very much."
As the storm cleared, Leo walked home, his heart full. He'd caught lightning, made magic vitamins, and made a new friend—all with his baseball. Some adventures, he realized, are hit right out of the park.
