The Starry Pool Party

Lily loved her messy brown hair. It stuck out in every direction, like it was trying to catch the stars. Tonight, it did.

"Time for bed," Mama called. Lily groaned and reached for her old teddy bear, Barnaby. His orange bow tie had faded over the years, but Lily thought he looked brave that way—like a warrior who'd seen many adventures.

Something twinkled outside her window. A pool of shimmering light had gathered on the backyard grass! Lily tiptoed outside, clutching Barnaby. The pool wasn't water—it was made of tiny swimming stars, swirling like a magical galaxy right there on the lawn.

Then the most enormous bull stepped out from behind the oak tree. He wasn't scary at all. His fur was silver like moonlight, and his horns were twisted into gentle spirals that glowed soft blue.

"Hello, little one," said the bull. "I'm Bramble. Would you like to see where star-bears go to swim?"

Lily gasped as Barnaby suddenly wiggled in her arms and grew to life—much bigger than before! The teddy bear stretched and smiled, his orange bow tie glowing bright.

"I've been waiting hundreds of years for this invitation!" Barnaby said. He leaped into the starry pool and began to splash, sending ripples of rainbow light across the yard.

Lily jumped in too. The pool wasn't wet—it felt like being wrapped in warm sparkles. She floated through the galaxy, past comets and constellations that winked hello. Bramble the bull swam beside her, his silver fur flowing like seaweed in a cosmic ocean.

"Everyone needs a place to belong," Bramble said gently. "Even stars get lonely sometimes. That's why they make friends—they shine brighter together."

They played until the sky began to turn pink. Lily swam back to the edge, her hair now sparkled with tiny star-dust that would glow for weeks.

"Visit us again," Bramble called as he and Barnaby faded back into the magic. "Remember: the brightest light is the one you share with friends."

Lily woke up in her bed, Barnaby tucked under her arm. His orange bow tie looked brighter than before. Outside, the grass shimmered where the starry pool had been.

From that night on, Lily never complained about her messy hair again. It was perfect—just right for catching new friends among the stars.
