The Starry Pool
Lily's grandmother gave her an old iphone that didn't make calls anymore. "This is special," Grandma whispered with a wink. "It shows magical things if you believe." Lily frowned. Phones were for games and videos, not magic.
That night, moonlight spilled through her window. Lily tapped the screen and gasped. It showed a shimmering blue pool under sparkling stars. A golden sphinx with emerald eyes smiled from the screen. "Come find me," it seemed to say.
Lily closed her eyes tight, wishing with all her heart. *Whoosh!* She tumbled through swirling colors and landed on soft moss. The sphinx towered above her, its paws like sun-warmed stones. "Welcome, young friend," it purred. "My bear friend is lost beyond the Starry Pool. Only someone brave enough to go swimming can help."
The pool rippled with liquid starlight. Lily dipped her toe in - it felt like a warm hug! She plunged in, swimming deeper than any pool she'd known. Stars danced around her like fireflies. Through the glowing water, she saw a great brown bear, tangled in vines of shadow.
Lily wasn't scared. She remembered her stuffed bear at home, how she'd rescued him from behind the couch. This bear needed her too! She swam harder, her bubbles making music in the water. The bear's sad eyes met hers. Lily took his great paw, and together they kicked free.
They burst from the water into a meadow of moonflowers. The sphinx purred with happiness. "True friends help each other, no matter how deep the water."
Lily hugged the bear's soft fur. His name was Orion, and he guarded the dreams of children everywhere. "Will you visit?" he asked.
"Every night," Lily promised.
She tumbled back through stars to her room, the iphone glowing softly on her pillow. Outside her window, a constellation twinkled - a bear, winking goodnight. Lily snuggled under her covers, heart full of magic. Sometimes the best adventures don't need apps or games. They just need a little bit of believing.
