The Starry Night's Secret Friend

spyfriendbull

Leo loved to play spy. With his cardboard tube telescope, he spied on ladybugs dancing on leaves and rabbits nibbling clover in his backyard. But his favorite thing to spy on was the sky.

One summer night, while spying at the stars through his real telescope, Leo saw something amazing. A bright star twinkled and wiggled, then tumbled right out of the constellation Taurus!

The star-light grew bigger and brighter as it fell, landing softly in Leo's backyard with a gentle glow. When the light faded, there stood not a star, but a magnificent creature with golden horns and a coat that shimmered like moonlight on water.

"Are you... a bull?" Leo whispered, his eyes wide with wonder.

"I am Orion," the creature replied in a voice like distant thunder. "I'm the spirit of the constellation. I've been watching you watch us for a long time, little sky spy."

Leo couldn't believe it. The magnificent bull wasn't scary at all. Orion's warm eyes sparkled with kindness.

"Would you like to see where I live?" Orion asked, lowering his golden head. "Climb on, and we'll have an adventure."

Leo climbed onto Orion's back, and with a whoosh of starlight, they soared into the night sky! They visited fluffy cloud kingdoms, chased comets like fireflies, and danced with the Aurora Borealis.

"Being a spy means watching carefully," Orion told Leo as they sat on a crescent moon. "But the best discoveries happen when you stop spying and start making friends."

Leo understood. He had been so busy watching everything that he never let anything close.

When Orion returned him to his bedroom window, the constellation bull nuzzled Leo's hand. "Visit me anytime, friend. Just look up."

Now Leo still plays spy, but he's different. He spies for kindness, for friendship, for magic hiding in plain sight. And every night, he waves to his best friend among the stars.

The night sky isn't just something to spy on anymore. It's a place where friends say hello across the universe.
