The Starry Garden Bull
Lily loved her grandmother's garden more than anything in the world. Every evening, she would sit among the twinkling fireflies and munch on fresh spinach leaves while Grammy told stories about the stars.
One moonlit night, something peculiar happened. As Lily crunched on a particularly crisp spinach leaf, she heard a soft snort coming from behind the pumpkin patch. Curious, she crept closer and gasped.
There stood a magnificent bull, but not like any she had seen in books. This bull's horns were made of twisted moonlight, and his fur sparkled like crushed diamonds. He was no bigger than a puppy, and his eyes held the warmth of a thousand summer suns.
"Hello, little one," the bull said in a voice that sounded like wind chimes dancing. "I'm Orion, the Star Keeper. I've been watching you enjoy your spinach dinners."
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk? And you know about spinach?"
Orion chuckled. "Of course! Spinach grows best when kissed by starlight. But I'm in trouble, Lily. My friend, a gentle bear named Luna, has lost her way in the constellation forest. She's afraid of the dark, and without her, the stars cannot twinkle properly."
Lily's heart swelled with courage. "I'll help you find her!"
Orion lowered his sparkling back. "Climb aboard, but first—eat this spinach leaf. It will give you the magic of the garden."
Lily popped the glowing leaf into her mouth. Suddenly, she could hear the flowers singing and see the moonbeams as solid bridges of light. She climbed onto Orion's back, and together they soared into the night sky.
They found Luna huddled near the Big Dipper, trembling. The bear's fur was as soft as clouds, and her eyes held galaxies of sadness.
"Don't be afraid," Lily whispered, sliding down from Orion's back. She took Luna's paw in hers. "Everyone needs a friend when things seem scary."
Orion nodded warmly. "Even the bravest bears need help sometimes."
Luna's eyes brightened. "You'll stay with me?"
"Always," Lily promised, handing her a spinach leaf from her pocket. "This will remind you of the garden's magic whenever you feel afraid."
That night, the three friends danced among the stars, and the sky shone brighter than it ever had before. From then on, Lily knew that true magic wasn't just in spinach or starlight—it was in having the courage to help others, even when you're small.
And whenever she looked up at the constellation of Orion, she could almost see the little starry bull wink, reminding her that friendship is the brightest light of all.
