The Starry Bull's Secret
Lily loved thunderstorms. Every time lightning flashed across the sky, she counted the seconds until the thunder rumbled. One stormy evening, a bolt of lightning struck so close that her whole house shook. When the rain finally stopped, Lily crept outside to investigate.
In the middle of her garden lay a bull. But not an ordinary bull – this one glowed with a soft blue light, and his horns sparkled like actual stars.
"Oh my," Lily whispered, approaching carefully. "Are you hurt?"
The bull raised his head sadly. "I fell from the sky. I am Taurus, a constellation who slipped during the storm. Now I'm stuck on Earth."
Lily's eyes widened. "A real star bull! But how will you get home?"
"I must swim through the Milky Way," Taurus explained, "but I've never been good at swimming. The sky river is so deep and vast. I was always too afraid to try."
Lily thought for a moment. Her grandmother had a pond behind her cottage where Lily had learned to swim last summer.
"I can teach you!" Lily exclaimed. "My grandmother says swimming is just trusting the water to hold you."
Every night for a week, Lily and Taurus practiced in the moonlit pond. At first, the glowing bull was clumsy and scared. But Lily held his nose (which felt warm like sunshine) and showed him how to paddle his legs.
"You're doing it!" she cheered when Taurus finally floated on his own. "See? The water wants to help you, not hurt you."
On the seventh night, another lightning storm approached. This time, Taurus didn't hide. He stood tall as the wind whipped around them.
"I'm ready," the bull said bravely.
Lightning struck again, but instead of knocking Taurus down, it lifted him up, carrying him toward the stars. As he ascended, Lily saw him begin to swim – paddling gracefully through the glowing river of the Milky Way.
"Thank you, Lily!" Taurus called, his voice twinkling like bells. "You taught me that courage comes from friendship!"
Now, whenever Lily looks up at the night sky, she sees Taurus winking at her. And whenever she's afraid of something new, she remembers what the star bull learned: sometimes, you just need a good friend to help you take the first plunge.
