The Starry Bull's Secret
Emma loved watching storms from her bedroom window. But tonight was different—different from any thunderstorm she'd ever seen.
A bolt of lightning flashed, and instead of fading away, it sparkled like glitter in the rain. Emma gasped as the sparkling light swirled together, forming the shape of a small pyramid right in her backyard. It glowed with a soft blue light, pulsing like a heartbeat.
She tiptoed outside in her pajamas, rain soaking her feet. The pyramid was only as tall as her knees, made of something that looked like solid starlight. As she reached out to touch it, the sides unfolded like a flower, revealing a tiny creature curled inside.
It was a bull—no bigger than a kitten—with a coat that shimmered like the night sky and horns made of crescent moons. The bull stretched and shook itself, sending tiny sparkles dancing through the rain.
"I'm Orion," the bull said in a voice like wind chimes. "I'm a guardian from the Pyramid of Stars. I fell through the sky during the lightning storm."
Emma's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"All magical creatures can," Orion replied. "But I'm stuck here until the next lightning storm opens the path back home. That won't be for many moons."
Emma thought hard. She could keep Orion as a secret friend, or she could help him return home. "What if we build you a pyramid to stay in?" she suggested. "Then you'll be safe until you can go back."
They worked all night, gathering sticks and stones, creating a cozy little pyramid shelter. As dawn broke, Orion curled up inside and fell asleep, his moon horns glowing softly.
Emma visited him every day, bringing treats and stories. Weeks passed, and they became the best of friends. But Emma knew Orion belonged in the stars.
Finally, another lightning storm came. Orion stepped out of his pyramid, his coat shimmering brighter than ever. "Thank you, Emma," he said. "You showed me that true friendship means helping each other, even when it's hard to say goodbye."
The lightning struck again, and this time Orion raced up the bolt like a staircase, disappearing into the clouds. The little pyramid Emma had built remained in her garden—a reminder that the best friends are the ones who touch your heart, even if they can't stay forever.
Sometimes, on stormy nights, Emma still sees a tiny spark of starlight dancing in the lightning, and she knows Orion is watching over her from his home among the stars.
