The Starry Bull's Golden Ball
Lily had the curliest, reddest hair in all of Oakville, bouncing like little springs when she ran. She loved playing games in her backyard, especially with her old wooden padel paddle she'd found in the attic.
One summer evening, as the sun painted the sky purple, Lily heard a snort from behind the garden fence. She peeked through the boards and gasped. There stood the most magnificent creature she'd ever seen—a great white bull with golden horns that glowed like tiny stars!
The bull looked sad. It pawed at something on the ground. Lily stepped closer and saw it was a baseball, but not just any baseball—this one shimmered with the same golden light as the bull's horns.
"That's my star-ball," the bull said gently. Lily's eyes went wide. "I'm Taurus, guardian of the Summer Stars. I dropped my star-ball while playing fetch with the constellations. Without it, I can't return to the sky."
Lily's heart beat fast. She wanted to help, but the bull was enormous! Then she remembered her padel paddle. "I can hit it back to you!" she said bravely.
The bull tossed the star-ball high. It sparkled through the air like shooting star. Lily gripped her paddle tight, her curly hair flying in the magical breeze. She swung—and the star-ball sailed straight into Taurus's waiting golden horns!
The bull's whole body began to glow. "Thank you, brave friend!" he boomed. "For your kindness, I'll grant you one wish."
Lily thought carefully. "I wish that every child could feel the magic of helping someone."
Taurus smiled, and his golden light flowed through Lily's hair, making it shimmer with tiny stars. Then he bounded into the sky, becoming the brightest constellation.
Now, every summer evening, Lily waves at the stars. And sometimes, when children are kind to each other, their hair glimmers just a little bit with Taurus's magic. Because the real magic, Lily learned, isn't in star-balls or golden horns—it's in helping friends, big or small.
