The Starry Bull's Gift
Lily loved her iphone more than anything. She spent all day tapping and swiping, watching videos and playing games. One night, when her battery died, she sighed and looked out her window.
That's when she saw it—a great glowing shape in the sky. A bull made entirely of stars!
The Starry Bull lowered his magnificent head and spoke. "Lily," he rumbled gently, "I've watched you through your window. You're missing the real magic."
Lily stepped outside into her backyard. The bull's mane flowed like golden stardust, each strand of shimmering hair twinkling with ancient stories. He was enormous yet kind, his coat painted with constellations.
"What magic?" Lily asked.
The Bull pressed his warm nose against her palm. Lines of light traced across her hand—maps to hidden adventures, secrets of the earth, whispers of the wind.
"Your phone shows you pictures," the Bull explained. "But your palm can feel them. Your eyes can find wonders no screen can hold."
He knelt so Lily could climb onto his back. Together they soared through the night sky, racing comets and dancing with the moon. They visited the Kingdom of Fireflies, the Ocean of Whispers, and the Mountain of Forgotten Dreams.
Lily laughed with pure joy, her iphone completely forgotten.
When they returned, the Starry Bull nuzzled her cheek. "The real magic was never in your phone, little one. It's in the world waiting for you to explore it."
As dawn broke, the Bull returned to the stars. Lily looked at her empty palm, then at the sunrise painting the sky pink and gold. She smiled, running inside to grab her sneakers instead of her phone.
The magic had always been there. She just needed to look up from her screen to find it.
