The Starlight Vitamin

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's attic. It was filled with mysterious treasures, but nothing had ever prepared her for what she found that rainy Saturday afternoon.

Behind a dusty trunk, she discovered a tiny door no bigger than a dinner plate. The door had a golden handle that sparkled like captured sunshine. Being the curious sort, Lily turned it.

"Hello there!" squeaked a tiny creature with fluffy orange fur. It was a miniature cat with wings like a dragonfly!

"I'm Whiskers," the cat announced. "And you've just unlocked the Door of Wonders!"

Whiskers explained that he was a Starlight Cat, guardian of magical vitamins that made wishes come true. But there was a problem—the Dream River had stopped flowing, and no new vitamins could be made.

"Will you help me?" Whiskers asked, his amber eyes hopeful. "We need to go swimming in the Cloud Kingdom to restart the river!"

Lily's heart raced with excitement. She nodded, then remembered something. "Wait, my mom said I could call her."

Whiskers grinned. "Your iPhone won't work where we're going—but trust me, she'll understand. Some adventures are worth being a little late for dinner."

Whiskers tapped Lily's forehead with his paw, and suddenly her hair began to glow with rainbow light! "This shows you're ready for magic," he explained.

They stepped through the tiny door into a world where clouds were solid enough to walk on. The Cloud Kingdom was beautiful—purple and pink skies filled with floating islands. Best of all were the pools of starlight, perfect for swimming.

"The Dream River starts here," Whiskers said, pointing to a fountain shaped like a crescent moon. "Someone stopped believing in magic, and it dried up."

Lily knew what to do. She closed her eyes and made the biggest wish she could—not for toys or candy, but that every child could feel the wonder she felt right now.

"I believe," she whispered. "I believe in magic and dreams and possibilities!"

The fountain trembled, then burst forth with sparkling water that flowed like liquid stars. Whiskers cheered, diving into the newly-formed pool. "You did it! Now we can make starlight vitamins again!"

They spent what felt like hours swimming through the magical water, splashing and playing. When it was time to leave, Whiskers gave Lily a tiny golden pill.

"This is a starlight vitamin," he said. "Take it when you need courage. And remember—you're never too old to believe in magic."

Back in her grandmother's attic, Lily discovered almost no time had passed. Her iPhone showed three missed calls from Mom, but Lily knew Mom would understand when she explained. Some adventures change you, and this was one she would remember forever.

That night, Lily tucked the golden vitamin under her pillow, already dreaming of her next journey through the tiny door. Some doors, she learned, lead to the most wonderful surprises.
