The Starlight Swimming Pool
Lily loved swimming more than anything. Every summer evening, she'd slip into her backyard pool when the stars came out. The water felt like liquid silk, cool and sparkly under the moonlight.
One night, while doing her favorite backstroke, Lily noticed something magical. She began to spy on the ripples around her – they were glowing! Tiny lights danced on the water's surface, blinking like underwater stars.
"Hello?" she whispered.
A splash answered her. Up popped the most unexpected friend – a silver fish with scales that shimmered like captured moonbeams.
"I'm Fin!" the fish bubbled. "I've been waiting for someone who loves the night water as much as I do."
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Only to special swimming friends," Fin winked. "Come with me! I want to show you something wonderful."
Together they swam deeper than Lily had ever dared. The pool bottom seemed to stretch forever, transforming into an underwater galaxy. Starfish twinkled like actual stars, and seaweed swayed like green ribbons in a cosmic dance.
Then she saw it – the most magnificent creature imaginable. A great bull made entirely of stardust and dreams, with horns that glowed like crescent moons. He wasn't scary at all. His eyes held ancient kindness, and his presence felt like a warm hug.
"This is Taurus," Fin explained. "He's the Guardian of Night Swimmers. He protects children who believe in magic."
The starlight bull dipped his massive head, and Lily felt a rush of pure joy – like being wrapped in sunshine and moonbeams together.
"Thank you for believing," Taurus's voice rumbled softly, like distant thunder that makes you feel safe inside. "The world needs more wonder."
Lily swam back home with her heart full. Some things were too wonderful to explain, but that was okay. Real magic doesn't need proof – it only needs someone who believes.
From then on, every night swim became an adventure. And sometimes, if you look closely at a child's eyes after they've been swimming, you might just catch a tiny sparkle – a little bit of starlight, kept safe in their heart forever.
