The Starlight Swimmers

Leo loved looking at the stars. Every night, he pressed his nose against his bedroom window, wishing he could touch them. But he never expected what happened one summer evening.

His golden retriever, Luna, was acting strange. She kept nudging Leo's hand with her wet nose, whining softly. When Leo opened his palm to pet her, something amazing happened—his palm began to glow with soft, silver light, just like moonlight.

"Luna!" Leo whispered.

The dog bounded to the backyard, and Leo followed. Under the old oak tree, Luna dug frantically until she uncovered something shiny—a silver scale, shimmering like a fallen star.

As Leo picked it up, Luna licked his palm, and suddenly the backyard wasn't a backyard anymore. It was a river of starlight, flowing through the sky.

"Hold onto me!" Luna said—or maybe Leo just understood her without words. And then they were swimming, not in water, but through clouds of silver and blue.

All around them, tiny stars floated like glowing fish. The great Milky Way stretched above them like a bridge made of diamonds. Leo had never felt so free, so light, so completely happy.

They found a sad little star sitting on a cloud. "I fell," the star twinkled. "I can't get back home."

Leo knew what to do. He cupped the star in his glowing palm, and Luna guided him through the starry river, swimming stronger and faster until they reached the darkest patch of sky—the perfect place for this little star.

When Leo placed the star carefully in the darkness, it burst with brilliant light, happier than ever.

"Thank you," the star sang.

Suddenly, Leo and Luna were back in their backyard, the silver scale still in Leo's hand. But now it wasn't just a scale anymore—it was a constellation shaped like a dog.

Leo looked at Luna, whose eyes twinkled like she knew a wonderful secret. He looked at his palm, which still glowed faintly, and he knew: some gifts aren't just for us. They're for helping others find their way back home.

That night, Leo fell asleep with Luna curled beside him, both of them dreaming of starlight rivers and the friends waiting among the stars.
