The Starlight Pyramid

Lily lived in a house full of books. One summer afternoon, she stacked them high in the garden—hundreds of books in the shape of a perfect pyramid. She'd read about pyramids in her Egypt book, but she never thought she'd build one herself!

As the sun began to set, something magical happened. The book pyramid started to glow! Lily stepped closer and saw the pages fluttering like butterfly wings. Suddenly, she wasn't in her garden anymore. She stood in a desert of sparkling silver sand under a sky filled with a thousand shooting stars.

"Welcome, little builder!" a deep, friendly voice rumbled.

Lily turned around and gasped. Standing before her was a magnificent bull made entirely of golden stardust, with constellation patterns shining across his back. His eyes twinkled like the night sky.

"I'm Orion," the bull said softly. "I've waited hundreds of years for someone to build the right pyramid."

"But... I just used my books," Lily whispered, her eyes wide.

"Books are the most powerful magic of all!" Orion's stardust tail swished happily. "Each book holds a whole world. Together, they can open doors to anywhere."

He led her through the silver desert to a single palm tree with leaves made of crystal that chimed like tiny bells in the cosmic breeze. Underneath, a pool of water reflected galaxies Lily had never seen.

"This is the Palm of Dreams," Orion explained. "Make a wish, and if your heart is true, it will come to life."

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything—to fly, to be a princess, to have a million toys. But she looked at Orion, who had waited so long just for a friend.

"I wish," Lily said, "that I could visit you whenever I want, and that we could be friends forever."

The crystal palm chimed joyfully. The pool's water sparkled brighter than ever. Orion lowered his magnificent head, and Lily hugged his stardust nose.

"That," Orion said, "is the wisest wish anyone has ever made."

When Lily opened her eyes, she was back in her garden. The book pyramid stood just as she'd left it. But now, a single crystal palm leaf rested on top, and whenever she touched it, she could hear the gentle sound of stardust hooves.

That night, as Lily fell asleep, she smiled. Sometimes, she learned, the very best magic isn't about wishes coming true—it's about the friends you make along the way.
