The Starlight Pool
Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house, her bare feet dancing over the soft grass. Every evening at sunset, she'd race the wind, pretending she could fly. But today, Lily slowed to a stop. In the middle of the meadow stood something she'd never seen before—a shimmering pool of water that sparkled like liquid diamonds.
Curious, Lily stepped closer. The pool wasn't just ordinary water. It glowed with tiny lights that swirled and danced like captured stars. As she leaned over the surface, she saw her reflection smile back at her—but the reflection moved differently, waving its hand.
"Hello!" said a voice. Lily looked around, but no one was there. Then she realized—the voice came from the pool itself!
A face formed in the swirling lights. "I'm Spark," said the water-creature. "I've been waiting for a friend."
Lily's eyes widened. "You live in the pool?"
"Only for now," Spark explained sadly. "When the moon rises, I have to go back to the sky. Unless someone makes a wish for me to stay."
"I wish you could stay!" Lily cried without thinking. "I've never had a magical friend before!"
The water began to bubble and glow brighter. Spark's smile grew bigger. "Thank you! Now I can visit anytime—just come running to the meadow when the stars come out. We'll have adventures together!"
That night, Lily ran home with her heart full of wonder. She had learned that sometimes the best friends appear when you least expect them, and that a little kindness can make magic happen.
From then on, every evening after dinner, Lily could be seen running through the meadow, racing toward her glowing pool where Spark was waiting, ready for another adventure among the stars.
