The Starlight Pool

Luna was no ordinary cat. She had fur the color of moonlight and eyes that twinkled like actual stars. Every night, she visited young Leo in his dreams.

One hot summer evening, when Leo couldn't sleep, Luna appeared at his window sill. "Come with me," she seemed to say with a gentle meow. "I have something magical to show you."

Leo followed Luna into the backyard, where something amazing happened. Luna tapped her paw on the ground, and suddenly his dusty old baseball began to glow! It rose into the air, spinning like a tiny planet.

"Watch closely," Luna whispered, and for the first time, Leo understood cat language perfectly.

The baseball grew bigger and bigger until it became the moon itself! Then Luna led him to the family's swimming pool, which wasn't filled with water anymore—it was filled with shimmering, liquid starlight!

"This is the Starlight Pool," Luna explained. "Every night, it collects wishes from children all over the world."

Leo dipped his hand into the glowing pool. Ripples of silver and gold spread outward. He saw images of other children's dreams: a girl wanting a puppy, a boy hoping to ride a bicycle, a little one wishing for snow.

"What's your wish, Leo?" Luna asked.

Leo thought carefully. He could wish for anything—to be the best baseball player, to have a million toys, to fly like a superhero. But then he looked at Luna, who had given him this amazing gift.

"I wish," Leo said softly, "that every child could have a friend as magical as you."

The Starlight Pool sparkled brighter than ever. A single golden bubble floated up and popped, showering them both with warm light. Luna purred so loudly that the stars seemed to twinkle in rhythm.

"That," Luna said, "is the most powerful wish of all."

The next morning, Leo woke up in his bed. Had it all been a dream? He looked out the window and saw Luna sleeping on the fence, her fur still shimmering slightly in the sunlight. His baseball sat beside her—glowing just the tiniest bit.

Leo smiled. Some magic is real, if you know where to look. And the best wishes are the ones you make for others.
